12 Healthiest Ranch Dressings (w/ Images and Nutrition Facts)

Let’s be honest, life without ranch dressing is pretty bland. It’s one of the greatest guilty pleasures since the chocolate bar. If it wasn’t so high in calories, I’d probably have it with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Fortunately, there’s hope for us health-conscious ranch lovers.

I’ve taken it upon myself (happily so) to review over 25 different brands of ranch. I’ve taken into account everything from calories per serving and fat content, to the quality of ingredients and taste.

After countless (tasty) hours of research, I’ve narrowed it down to 12 of the healthiest ranch dressing brands available. So, defrost those wings and preheat that oven daddy, it’s about to get real!

1. Hidden Valley, Original Ranch Dressing Light

60 Calories | 5g Fat | 4g Carbs | 0g Protein | 1g Sugar | 310mg Sodium

I had a hard time putting Hidden Valley at the top of this list. If I’m being honest, I’m not the biggest fan of Hidden Valley. That said, it’s definitely rated as one of the best ranch dressings out there so I figured it was worthy of the #1 spot.

The light version of their original recipe is a solid choice if you’re looking for a healthy ranch dip. While it’s a bit high in sodium, it only has 60 calories per serving. It’s also gluten-free…

I highly recommend checking out some of their other flavors, too. They have a variety of “Light” flavors to choose from, including Buttermilk and Cucumber. And, for those of you that are Vegan, they have a plant-based option.

2. Walden Farms, Ranch Dressing

0 Calories | 0g Fat | 0g Carbs | 0g Protein | 0g Sugar | 230mg Sodium

Another great choice, if you’re looking for a healthy ranch dressing, is Walden Farms Ranch Dressing. I’m not sure what kind of sorcery they’re using over there to make this stuff, but it has 0 calories…

That’s right, zero calories! No fat, no carbohydrates, and zero sugar. It does, however, have 230mg of sodium per serving. So, use it sparingly.

I had never heard of Walden Farms until I started researching the healthier ranch options out there. Come to find out, they’ve actually been around for over 40 years. And, their entire mission is to develop “healthy specialty foods” without sacrificing great taste.

Definitely worth picking up a bottle of this stuff!

3. Bold Palate Foods; No Cows On This Ranch

50 Calories | 5g Fat | 1g Carbs | 0g Protein | 0g Sugar | 80mg Sodium

The No Cows On This Ranch Dressing, from Bold Palate, is another surprisingly great healthy ranch dressing. They’ve somehow created a dressing without any sugar, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, soy, dairy, eggs, or gluten…

And, it only has 50 calories and 80mg of sodium per serving!

I’m actually a big fan of the taste, too. Which isn’t always the case when it comes to the “healthier” options of most foods. They paired the classic ranch taste with both dill and garlic, which makes for a super flavorful dip.

Bold Palate also makes a variety of other “plant-based dressings” that look pretty solid. I’ve only had their ranch, but their Apple Spice Vinaigrette looks like a pretty healthy and tasty salad dressing, too.

4. Kraft, Classic Lite Ranch Dressing

70 Calories | 4.5g Fat | 7g Carbs | 0g Protein | 1g Sugar | 350mg Sodium

While Kraft’s Classic Lite Ranch Dressing is only 4th on this list, it’s actually my favorite healthy ranch dressing. The only reason I didn’t put it higher is because it’s definitely not the healthiest option, especially given how much sodium it has.

That said, if this list was purely based on flavor, Kraft’s ranch would be number one, two and three!

They’ve used many of the same ingredients that are found in traditional ranch, like dried garlic and parsley, dried onions, etc. The texture is also solid. It’s thick and creamy, making it a perfect dip for you wings or pizza.

You can obviously order this stuff online; it’s also found at majority of the major grocery stores.

5. Wish-Bone, Light Ranch Dressing

70 Calories | 6g Fat | 4g Carbs | 0g Protein | 2g Sugar | 290mg Sodium

This is another ranch dressing that I hadn’t heard of before doing my research. Apparently, it’s a pretty popular brand. And, from looking at different forums online, many people think it’s one of the best ranch dips out there.

For me, Kraft is still my go-to. I did like Wish-Bone’s Light Ranch Dressing though!

It’s definitely one of the healthier ranch dressings available. It does have quite a bit of sugar though, so probably not the best choice for diabetics. Only 70 calories per serving though, not bad.

Wish-Bone specializes in salad dressings. In addition to their ranch, they have an Italian, Vinaigrette, and “Western”. All of which are pretty highly rated as well…

6. 365 by Whole Foods, Organic Light Ranch Dressing

50 Calories | 4.5g Fat | 2g Carbs | <1g Protein | 1g Sugar | 260mg Sodium

I’m a big fan of Whole Foods! They’ve done a great job with their 365 product line, including their Organic Light Ranch Dressing. It’s low-cal, low sodium and organic. Definitely a healthier choice for your wings and pizza.

From purely a calorie standpoint, it’s one of the healthier ranch dressings on this list with only 50 calories per serving. It also only has 260mg of sodium, which is relatively low.  Another thing worth mentioning is this dressing doesn’t have any MSG, which many of the other ranch dips have.

365 by Whole Foods also makes several other healthy dips and dressings worth checking out.

7. Follow Your Heart, Reduced Fat Ranch Dressing

90 Calories | 9g Fat | 2g Carbs | 1g Protein | 1g Sugar | 150mg Sodium

The Reduced Fat Ranch Dressing from Follow Your Heart is a great plant-based vegan dressing, which is hard to do. If you’re not familiar with Follow Your Heart I highly recommend checking them out. All of their products are plant-based and really flavorful.

This dressing in particular is made without dairy or eggs, but still has that creamy traditional ranch flavor. Additionally, it’s made with hemp and flax seed oils which provide a good source of omega-3 fatty acids.

While it’s slightly high in fat, it has very few carbs, limited sugar and low sodium. Another great healthy option for you ranch-heads.

8. Marzetti, Simply 60 Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

60 Calories | 6g Fat | 2g Carbs | 1g Protein | 1g Sugar | 220mg Sodium

While the Simply 60 Buttermilk Ranch Dressing from Marzetti isn’t Vegan, it’s definitely a cleaner dressing than most. It’s made from real ingredients, including real buttermilk, includes zero preservatives, and has only 60 calories per serving.

You’d think a dressing with only 60 calories wouldn’t have much flavor. That isn’t the case with Marzetti’s ranch. It has both a great texture and the traditional ranch flavor we all love.

Highly recommend!

9. Bolthouse Farms, Garden Ranch

80 Calories | 7g Fat | 3g Carbs | 1g Protein | 1g Sugar | 230mg Sodium

Bolthouse is another brand that makes a great Vegan ranch dressing. And, it’s fairly light in terms of calories and sodium.

The Garden Ranch from Bolthouse is 100% plant-based, includes zero preservatives or artificial sweeteners, and is both gluten and soy-free. In fact, their entire mission is to create “healthier products”. They have a variety of plant-based dressing that are well worth looking at.

In terms of taste, it was definitely one of the better vegan ranch dressings I tried. Better than Daiya, anyway. It has a bit of the traditional ranch flavor with a slight veggie taste to it.

Worth giving it a try, for sure!

10. Primal Kitchen, Ranch Dressing

120 Calories | 13g Fat | 2g Carbs | 0g Protein | 0g Sugar | 210mg Sodium

The Ranch Dressing from Primal Kitchen was super tasty! It would be higher on this list if it wasn’t for how much sodium it contained. It also has a few more calories than most of the other dressings on this list.

Still, it’s a much healthier choice than the standard Hidden Valley or Kraft recipes.

This ranch is made from an avocado oil base, which is why it’s so high in fat. That oil base gives it a thick and creamy texture, though. And, while it does have some sodium, it’s made without dairy or sugar. It’s both Keto and Paleo friendly, as well.

Even if this isn’t the one for you, I suggest taking a look at their site as they have a variety of Whole30, Keto, and Paleo products that look awesome.

11. Annie’s Cowgirl Ranch Dressing

110 Calories | 10g Fat | 2g Carbs | <1g Protein | 2g Sugar | 240mg Sodium

I’ve talked about Annie’s products in previous articles. They make a number of great, healthier alternatives to a lot of the products we love. Their ranch dressing included.

The Cowgirl Ranch Dressing from Annie’s isn’t the healthiest on this list, by any means. It is, however, one of the tastiest. It’s a bit higher on calories, with about 110 calories per serving. It’s also relatively high in sugar. That said, it’s fairly low in the sodium department and made without any artificial sweeteners or preservatives.

As far as taste, it’s fairly similar to Hidden Valley. It’s definitely “tangier” than some of these other options. I’d say it’s a great healthy ranch for dipping vegetables or using in a salad.

12. Daiya, Homestyle Ranch Dairy-Free Dressing

130 Calories | 13g Fat | 2g Carbs | 0g Protein | 1g Sugar | 220mg Sodium

I’ve been a fan of Daiya for quite some time. I was originally turned on to them when I tried going Vegan for a few months. They make a variety of plant-based products which are both healthy and tasty.

Their Homestyle Dairy-Free Ranch is a solid choice if you’re looking for a healthier dressing. It’s pretty high in fat due to the Canola oil base, but significantly less so than many of the other popular brands. And, compared to other dressings on this list, it’s fairly low in sodium.

The dressing itself is dairy, gluten, and soy-free. And, if you like the dressing, I highly recommend checking out their gluten-free and vegetable crust pizzas to go with it. They also make a pretty solid vegan cheese.
